DTN COMMENTS: All is quiet in the country this morning. No bids have been
renewed as of yet. Asking prices for cattle left on showlists are around
$138 in the South, and $220 in the North. While it looks like the bulk of
business is essentially done for the week, more trade is likely to take
place here and there today and/or tomorrow. Beef cutouts are expected to be
higher with light to moderate box movement.

So far this week, Northern dressed deals have been marked at mostly $218,
fully steady with last week's weighted averages, a good many of these cattle
are set for delivery the week of January 31st and February 7th. Southern live
transactions have been at mostly $137, $1 to $1.50 higher than last week's
weighted averages.
